FC Den Bosch heeft Bernard Schuiteman voor tenminste twee seizoenen aangesteld als hoofdverantwoordelijke voor de voetbaltak van de club. De Nederlander is nu nog Head of European Recruitment bij Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, met wie hij afgelopen zomer de Aziatische Champions League won. Schuiteman begint op 10 april aanstaande aan zijn klus als technisch directeur bij de Bossche eerstedivisionist.
Schuiteman wordt bij FC Den Bosch verantwoordelijk voor alle activiteiten op het sportieve vlak en voor de sportieve koers van de club. Die behelst het betaald voetbal, de scouting, de jeugdopleiding en de aansturing van de staf en het kader binnen deze domeinen. Tot de kerntaken van Schuiteman behoren de samenstellingvan de A-selectie en het in goede banen leiden van transfers. Schuiteman, die een jarenlange ervaring in scouting en recruitment heeft, gaat zich daarnaast bezighouden met het ontdekken en (door) ontwikkelen van talent en de instroom van spelers uit de eigen jeugdopleiding naar het eerste team. Dit laatste gebeurt in nauwe samenwerking met het management van de
FC Den Bosch Jeugdopleiding.
Voormalig profvoetballer Schuiteman neemt veel ervaring en een uitgebreid netwerk mee naar de Noord-Brabantse hoofdstad. Als profvoetballer speelde Schuiteman onder meer voor FC Twente, Bayer Leverkusen, Feyenoord, Grazer AK, Mainz 05, Apollon Limassol en Cambuur. Met Bayer Leverkusen (1994), Feyenoord (1995) en Grazer AK (2000) won hij de nationale beker. Voor de Rotterdammers speelde hij tevens in de Europese UEFA Cup en Champions League competities. Ook met Bayer Leverkusen deed Schuiteman Europese ervaring op in de toenmalige UEFA Cup. Schuiteman kwam voor Nederland in diverse vertegenwoordigende elftallen in actie.
Na zijn actieve spelerscarrière bleef Schuiteman werkzaam in het betaalde voetbal. Schuiteman, die beschikt over het op één na hoogste trainersdiploma, bekleedde diverse (hoofd)scouting functies bij FC Twente, Rapid Wien, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers en Feyenoord, de club waar hij als speler zijn grootste successen beleefde.
In maart 2021 werd Schuiteman aangesteld als technisch directeur bij Grasshopper Club Zürich. Toen hij de club verliet stond Grasshoppers op de bovenste plek in de Zwitserse tweede divisie en stond niks promotie naar de hoogste divisie meer in de weg.

Bernard Schuiteman (50) new sports director FC Den Bosch
For the next two years FC Den Bosch has appointed Bernard Schuiteman as head of the club’s football branch. The Dutchman is currently Head of European Recruitment at Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, with whom he won the Asian Champions League last summer. Schuiteman will start his job as sports director at the first division club from Den Bosch on April 10.
At FC Den Bosch, Schuiteman will be responsible for all sporting activities and for the club’s sporting direction. This includes professional football, scouting, youth training and all of the staff within these domains. Schuiteman’s core tasks include putting together a competitive first team and ensuring transfer matters run smoothly. Schuiteman, who has many years of experience in scouting and recruitment, will also be involved in discovering and (further) developing talent and the influx of players from the club’s youth academy to the first team. The latter is done in close collaboration with the management of the academy.
Former professional footballer Schuiteman brings a lot of experience and an extensive network to the North Brabant capital. As a professional footballer, Schuiteman played for
FC Twente, Bayer Leverkusen, Feyenoord, Grazer AK, Mainz 05, Apollon Limassol and Cambuur. He won the national cup with Bayer Leverkusen (1994), Feyenoord (1995) and Grazer AK (2000). He also played for the team from Rotterdam in the European UEFA Cup and Champions League competitions. Schuiteman gained European experience with Bayer Leverkusen in the then UEFA Cup as well. Schuiteman played for the Netherlands in various representative teams.
After his active playing career, Schuiteman continued to work in professional football. Schuiteman, who has the second highest coaching diploma, held various (head) scouting positions at FC Twente, Rapid Wien, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Feyenoord, the club where he experienced his greatest successes as a player.
In March 2021, Schuiteman was appointed technical director at Grasshopper Club Zürich. When he left the club, Grasshoppers were top of the Swiss second division table and nothing stood in the way of promotion to the top division.
